Finnish School Shooter Was Fan Of RAMMSTEIN, METALLICA

September 24, 2008

The young Finnish man who went on a shooting rampage yesterday (September 23) through a school, killing 10 people, before setting it on fire and shooting himself in the head, listed his favorite heavy metal groups on his YouTube profile, such as German band RAMMSTEIN and U.S. group METALLICA.

According to CNN.com, the massacre in Kauhajoki, 290 kilometers (180 miles) northwest of Helsinki, was Finland's second school shooting in less than a year and renewed calls for a review of the country's laws on gun ownership.

The government also called for an investigation into how police handled the case because the gunman, 22-year-old Matti Juhani Saari, was questioned by police a day before the carnage about violent videos (see below) posted on the Internet.

Four videos of a man firing a pistol at a shooting range were posted by a "Mr. Saari" from Kauhajoki, where the college is based, according to his profile on YouTube.

Saari left a note saying he had been planning such an attack since 2002, and that he hated the human race, police said.
